An introduced, dense shrub or small tree reaching 12 feet at maturity. One of the most cold and drought resistant shrubs in cultivation. It has showy yellow flowers and locust-like leaves and sprouts from the roots. It has been extensively planted for shelter belts in the Great Plains and Canada. Grows at elevations between 3000-8000 feet. Also called Caragana.
