A native, aromatic, evergreen, multibranched shrub 2-8 feet tall. Often associated with sagebrush. It does well on dry sites and can be planted in a wide range of elevations. The foliage is heavily browsed by big game and livestock. Requires well-drained soils. Early spring plantings are suggested for this species.
