The largest deciduous tree in Utah. Grows rapidly to 70 feet with a crown equally as wide. Not cottonless. Does well on somewhat dry, alkaline sites where other trees have difficulty. Found along stream channels below 6000 feet. Requires some irrigation to become established. This native species is commonly associated with drainage basins which feed into the Colorado and Green Rivers.
