A slow growing evergreen with dense silver-green, to blue-green foliage. It has a broad pyramidal crown which spreads 25-35 feet and attains heights between 60 and 90 feet. Grows best in moist, rocky soils but is more drought tolerant than most spruces. Found between elevations of 6500 and 8000 feet. This is the Utah State Tree. It adapts to harsher sites with moderate irrigation. A valuable Christmas tree species.
